Pulses UK representatives returned to Kids Country, a hands-on learning experience for children around food, farming and the countryside, following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Justin Barratt from Askew and Barrett, Pulses UK President James Maguire, and Emily Pick and Melissa Hudson from Wherry and Sons were on hand to teach key stage 1 and 2 children about pulses, from farm to fork.
Around 3000 children had the opportunity to see processed and whole Marrowfat, Green, Yellow and Maple peas, as well as Faba beans and lentils, up close, and even tasted some mushy peas.
Pulses UK President James Maguire said: “We continue to see the benefit of connecting young children to where their food comes from and getting them excited about pulses.
“Having a presence at Kids Country once again helps us to spread the word about the versatility of pulses in a healthy, balanced diet, and help end users connect products, such as mushy peas, to the raw material.”
