The annual Pulses UK Sample Competition is in its final month with a closing date of Friday 25 October and judging taking place on Tuesday 29 October at PGRO.

With the 2019 Harvest being, generally, so much better than last year, members should have some excellent samples that could be potential winners! What better way to promote, celebrate and reward the growing of high quality pulses than entering into our annual competition.

Awards are given in six categories: 1. Any Human Consumption Winter Bean, 2. Any Human Consumption Spring Bean, 3. Any Marrowfat Pea, 4. Any Large Blue Pea, 5. Any Yellow Pea, 6. Any other Pea

As well as the kudos for winning members of having a grower with a winning sample and being feted at the Annual Dinner on Thursday 14 November, it is an opportunity to invite your grower to the dinner - good for customer relations! And for the winner and merchant to be featured in the Pulses UK Sample Competition press release.

Please send your entries to Paddy Barrett who has again, very kindly, agreed to collate all the samples. They should be clearly marked 'PULSE COMPETITION’, with your reference number and the category submitted.

Samples should be a minimum of 500g and, as this is a competition for growers, should be 'as grown’ with only the admixture removed!

The address is Askew & Barrett (Pulses) Ltd, Smeeth Rd, Marshland St James, Wisbech, Cambs, PE14 8JF

If you have any questions about the competition, contact Robert Brown (robert@petcom.co.uk).
